about emily clairoux

I am an Algonquin/French artist from Pikwàkanagàn First Nation practising primarily in digital illustration, beadwork, and textile artistry. I grew up on and around my reserve, within arms reach of my culture and community. My family was impacted by the Millennium Scoop, an extension of the Sixties Scoop.

I built my brand, Eagle Woman Arts, as an outlet of self expression through traditional and modern creative practices. I have also used this platform for fundraising and community work as I believe these gifts should be shared.

One of the most rewarding parts of my work has been teaching others to bead and make leather mittens. Particularly, working with women coming out of incarceration.

Expanding my practice into the digital space has allowed me to grow my body of work and fine tune my craft. I have learned to create large scale works, produce small batches of prints, and utilize multiple apps to diversify the types of works I am able to create.
